Things That Live in my Purse

(none of them alive, although I could probably fit a small dragon or a hamster if I tried)
This probably isn't a meme, but it should be. I am at work, and there's nothing to do, so here are some things that I keep in my purse (in no particular order, and irrespective of pockets).
- checkbook
- small notebook (mostly filled, but I haven't replaced it yet because it has important things in it, like directions and thoughts on Buffy)
- directions to the beach on a (very battered) 3x5 card
- compact (mostly for the mirror)
- vaseline lip therapy
- 1 G jump drive (I don't know why this lives in my purse, but it does)
- inhaler (my asthma very rarely acts up, but I do occasionally need this)
- small box of tic-tacs
- small box that used to contain tic-tacs and now contains midol
- pocketknife (with multiple blades)
- pen
- extra pen
- gum (Trident Wintergreen, because it is my favorite)
- key to my friend's house (if it lives in my purse, I don't have to hunt it when I visit and possibly forget to bring it)
- mp3 player (because the CD player in my car is possesed and ejects invisible CDs (or real ones) for no reason all the time)
- earbuds for the above (not that I listen to music at work, but this way I could if I wanted to)
- Kleenex
- wallet (containing very out of date pictures I keep meaning to update, credit cards, business cards, cash, change, library cards for two different districts, key card for work, insurance information, and so on)
- keys (which include my Albertson's card, library card, and Serenity keychain)
- glasses in case
I feel like this is the hair discussion on R'ville. Every so often, I must detail for you the details of the random things I keep in my purse, just as every so often I'm nostalgic for discussions on what everyone is doing with their hair (I've been wearing mine the same way for a while, which is medium length (between chin and shoulder length), curly, no bangs with some layering). So, friends, what have you in your purse (or, if you are Joel, what must you carry around in your pockets)? What is your contribution to the hair discussion?

Date: 2011-03-10 04:15 am (UTC)And I have cut my hair about the same way for two or three years now--the front long enough to tuck behind my ears, and the back layered from about an inch to about two inches long. I usually scrunch the front between my hands while it's wet so it curls a bit and run my hands up the back so it sticks out some and let it air dry, because I am still the most tomboyish woman I know. And I can't stand my hair long any more!
It doesn't help that Hot Guy keeps suggesting I try it super, super short and I've always wanted to shave my head once--although I really, really can't, as I am pale and waifish enough that I would almost certainly look like a chemo patient.
(I do hope other people chime in here, as I miss the Readerville hair discussion too.)

Date: 2011-03-10 03:43 pm (UTC)Now, right now it is long and layered and I have long side swept bangs. I have had this same basic cut for a year or so now. I was growing it out. So it is below my shoulder.
I can't decide if I want to stay the same just a little shorter (still below the shoulders) or cut it short again. I have the urge to cut it all off. Although, I know if I do that I'm going to wonder WHY I did it. I want it long (although, quite frankly, it is currently long enough so losing an inch or three isn't going to hurt me), but I just have the urge to cut it above my shoulder and change the style. If I do give in and cut it short, I will then proceed with letting it grow out again. So. I don't know.
If I thought the style I have in my head would look good on my round face, I'd do it. It'll always grow back. Then, on the other hand, I have a fedora I hardly ever wear but I bet it would look better on long hair and maybe I should leave it long and start wearing my fedora more.
So I don't know what I'm going to do, but I'm pretty sure I'm doing it Saturday. Suggestions?

That's it.

Date: 2011-03-11 04:36 am (UTC)I tend to keep things where I need them. My car has chapstick, kleenax, a pen, paper, coins, a parking pass for work, and directions to various places. Those are all nifty things, but I don't need them with me all the time. My checkbook lives in my desk, because I use my credit card for most purchases. My music is on CDs in my car, or CDs in my roommate's CD player.
