Someone on facebook mentioned Trinity Blood, and, as it sounded rather interesting, and I am (like the Elephant's Child) full of 'satiable curiosity, I watched the first episode, thought it was decent, watched the next few, and was hooked. It is an animated post apocalyptic show in which the Vatican fights vampires (I told one of my friends this, and she asked if I was making it up, because it sounded so very me). There are airships and occasional steampunk influences, priests battling vampires, lost technology, and it is all oh so pretty. It is also clever and has fascinating word plays, as well as stories of redemption and hope and an ongoing discussion of what a just war is. Not to mention that it is pretty and has some nifty world building. Oh, and these vampires are both scary (none of the sparkly kind, thank you very much), but also rational creatures who showed up right after the apocalypse, and have been at war with the humans ever since. I should warn you, though, that it is subtitled, violent, and the Vatican exists almost entirely as a political structure. I would go into further detail about why you should watch it, but I want to avoid spoilers (for my American friends, it can be found in its entirety on Hulu).
