I'm curious how Beauty's seeming "transformation" at the end of McKinley's Beauty fits in. Beauty was always beautiful but she did not believe herself to be so(having avoided mirrors from a young age) and she doesn't discover that she is beautiful until after she learns to love the Beast with redemptive love.
