on blogging platforms

I'm considering switching over to Dreamwidth (sort of). Livejournal has been a bit annoying lately. I've been having issues with my friends' feed (it only shows the most recent entries, and I can't go further back), I have trouble finding the login when it logs me out (I could be just missing it) and I recently discovered that even though I have the most basic account, livejournal is now showing ads to people not signed in to livejournal. Not cool.

I'm considering switching my primary journal to Dreamwidth, and setting up a feed here (like Denzi). I like the ability to friends lock posts and have a friends feed, so I'm tending towards Dreamwidth over something like Blogger. Any advice on blogging platforms?
